Summer stay on the Rhuys peninsula

As summer approaches, the Rhuys peninsula and the gulf of morbihan reveal themselves as ideal destinations for holidays that combine relaxation, culture and exploration. Nestled between the atlantic and the gulf, this region offers a variety of landscapes and activities that will delight both young and old. Here is a guide, organised by hôtel breizh du golfe, to help you plan a 4 day stay full of experiences.

⚓ Day 1: discovering arzon and its harbours

Start your stay in arzon, a charming village located at the tip of the peninsula. stroll through the village streets and soak in the maritime atmosphere. Port du crouesty, one of the largest marinas in morbihan, offers a pleasant walk along the quays, lined with shops and cafés.

For lunch, you have several options:
  • Le Cap Horn : located in the heart of port du crouesty, this restaurant offers a varied menu highlighting seasonal and seafood products.
  • Crêperie Ty Mousse : just a short walk from port navalo, this is a must-visit spot to enjoy traditional galettes and discover breton specialities.
  • Le Marin : located on the rade of port navalo, it offers an exceptional view over the gulf of morbihan and is well known for its fresh seafood and warm atmosphere.

In the afternoon, enjoy the nearby beaches for a swim or a sunbathing session. Port navalo beach, with its fine sand and calm waters, is ideal for relaxing. You can also take a walk along the coastal paths leading to port navalo and its lively bars with stunning views over the slipway and the gulf entrance, often bustling with sailboats.

🚴🏻 Day 2: cycling and historical heritage

Rent a bike and set off to discover the treasures of the peninsula. start your ride at the village of saint-gildas-de-rhuys, accessible via the greenway. Wander through its typical streets and visit its abbey, located on the main square where the local market takes place. founded in the 6th century, this benedictine abbey is a remarkable example of religious architecture.

Continue your day by heading to the domaine de suscinio and its castle. once a residence of the dukes of brittany, this medieval fortress is surrounded by marshlands and offers a fascinating glimpse into breton history. Take some time to relax on the nearby beach and enjoy the unique view.

Along the way, stop at a local crêperie or bring a picnic to enjoy in the heart of nature.

🌊 Day 3 : sea excursion to the gulf islands

Depart from the slipway at port navalo for a day at sea. Several ferry companies operate regular crossings, such as Compagnie du Golfe, Navix, or Les Vedettes du Golfe. We particularly recommend a trip to Ile-aux-Moines, known as the "pearl of the gulf", a charming island perfect for walking or cycling. For a more immersive experience, consider heading to Belle-Ile-en-Mer, reachable in about an hour by boat. It offers wilder landscapes, pristine beaches, and breathtaking coastal trails. for a more laid-back day, head to Ile d'Arz or Hoëdic, smaller islands with fine sandy beaches in the heart of the ocean, ideal for a picnic by the sea.

🍹 Day 4 : culture and relaxation

Make the most of your last day by exploring the local culture. Start with a stroll along the former customs path from port-navalo and on the esplanade near the harbour master's office and port du crouesty, where large-format photo exhibitions are organised by Arzon Événements. Before leaving, relax with a drink at one of arzon’s bars, such as Au Vieux Puits or Le Green, and enjoy a terrace moment. To end your stay, head to the city of vannes, its historic centre, ramparts, rich heritage, and lively harbour are worth a visit in any season.
